The Free State government’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence campaign seeks to educate boys as part of fighting the scourge.
Premier Sisi Ntombela launched the provincial campaign on Sunday (27/11) at Lekgalong la Mantsopa, Modderpoort.
Ntombela said that the focus of the province’s campaign was guided by the high number of gender-based violence incidents wherein boys are the alleged perpetrators.
“We need to instil morals in our boys from an early age,” said Ntombela.
Incidents of gender-based violence and femicide in the area are increasing at an alarming rate. In April, May and June there were 572 cases reported across the province.
