Two of the four suspects involved in the recent armed robbery of a foreign businessman in Boshof are remanded in custody while two were granted bail with conditions. Tommy Bothma (36) and Randy Mapoe Langman (37) have been remanded in custody to stand trial in the Bloemfontein Regional Court for crimes they committed in the city.

Their accomplices, Chantel Juanita van der Bergh (31) and Heinrich George Schuin (43) were released on bail of R1 000 and R2 000 respectively during their appearance in the Boshof Magistrate’s Court on Thursday (25/08). The four would-be-robbers face charges of business robbery. The business robbery court case is set for 10 October this year. They were arrested on 9 August by the police in Dealesville after a high-speed chase from Boshof. They were caught when trying to flee after robbing a businessman of two cellphones, an electricity and airtime vending machine, cigarettes, as well as cash.

Bothma’s trial pertains to house burglary in Bayswater. Langman’s other pending case regards the smuggling of abalone worth R7 million. He is on trial with five accomplices: Jinghuan Zhen, (Chinese), David Mbewu (Malawian), Thabo Johannes Khaile (Lesotho), Marvin Fazel Kekana and Clareece Genevieve (both South African). They face charges of being in possession of abalone. They were released on bail set at R15 000 each.

Langman and his co-accused face charges of possession of abalone following their arrest by the Hawks during a raid at a house in Olympus Street, Bayswater. The police discovered dry and wet abalone, believed to have been processed at the house, during the raid conducted in December last year.
