BLOEMFONTEIN – Swift action by Parkweg Crime Prevention members, supported by the Traffic Department and Mangaung Law Enforcement, has led to the arrest of two individuals in connection with the possession and manufacturing of fraudulent official documents.
The investigation began on Thursday, 23 October, when a 51-year-old man visited Thabure SAPS station in Central Park to certify a driving licence.
Upon inspecting the document, a vigilant SAPS member suspected it to be fraudulent. The Traffic Department and Law Enforcement were immediately contacted and subsequently verified that the driving licence was indeed fraudulent.
Following questioning, information led the multidisciplinary team to the person who allegedly created the licence, directing members to a farm on the N6.

Extensive Fraud Operation Discovered
A search of the location resulted in the discovery of fraudulent materials, including:
• Completed application forms for driving licences
• Numerous fraudulent temporary driving licences
• Fraudulent vehicle licence discs for various vehicles
Both suspects, aged 50 and 51, were immediately arrested and will face charges of possession of fraudulent documents, fraud, forgery, and uttering.
The alertness of the station member and seamless collaboration between different law enforcement agencies successfully disrupted a network involved in creating fraudulent official documents.
Both suspects are expected to appear in Bloemfontein Magistrates’ Court shortly.
The case highlights the importance of vigilance by law enforcement officers in detecting fraudulent documents and demonstrates the effectiveness of coordinated multi-agency operations in combating document fraud.
