Sundowns hopes to extend its wins to five.

The competition is the only one remaining for the Amakhosi to turn around their misfortune. The club is under immense pressure. Chiefs lost to TS Galaxy in the final in 2018, while the closest to winning the title in recent years.

This year the tournament is sponsored to the tune of R20,3 million in prize money – an increase of R15 million from the previous year.

The increase in prize money highlights the tournament’s growing prestige and importance within the South African football landscape.

This year’s winner will take home a whopping R7 million in prize money, and the runner-up will receive R2,5 million. The losers in the semifinals will receive R1 million.

Stars are guaranteed R400 000 for reaching the quarter-finals.

Looking back at the past 16 years, we are grateful for the successful partnership that we have enjoyed with the Premier Soccer League, and we look forward to many more years of the tournament.

“Well done to the teams that have made it this far – we wish you the best of luck going into the quarterfinals.”

The PSL is yet to announce host venues where the eight teams will play the elimination matches to decide the semifinalists.
