Time is running out for the struggling football side Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) to avoid relegation after suffering a third successive defeat. The club lost two more important Motsepe Foundation Championship games in Bloemfontein.

The losses at the club’s new home in Mangaung were against Uthongathi FC (1 – 2) on Wednesday (01/03) and against current log leader Polokwane City FC (0 – 2) on Sunday.

The losing streak is contrary to the expectations of the pressured mentor Johnny Ferreira, who has been tasked with the mammoth effort of saving the team from looming relegation, costing them their place in the National First Division (NFD). His team has only managed to salvage two points out of 15 in five games.

These points came after playing to a draw against Casric Stars FC (1 – 1) in the first match played in Bloemfontein, as well as another draw in an away game against MM Platinum FC (0 – 0).

TTM’s crucial defeats included a match against Cape Town Spurs FC (2 – 3).

Ferreira’s team has 18 points after 22 matches played thus far. His warriors still have eight matches to avoid the dreaded relegation.

Prospects of TTM avoiding the big chop are in the balance, given the current dismal form. To avoid their demotion, the club has to collect 12 points in the remaining matches – and hope other clubs such as Venda Football Academy, on 23 points; MM Platinum, on 24 points; Magesi FC and Platinum City Rovers FC, on 26 points; falter in their remaining matches.
