Inspired by back-to-back wins, the University of the Free State’s (UFS) men’s football team is hoping to ride that wave further into the Varsity Football competition.

The team is looking to thwart the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) when they meet at Shimla Park on Thursday, 8 August. Kick-off is at 18:30. This will be the third round of the tournament.

The Kovsie team’s previous victories were against the North-West University (NWU) and the Durban University of Technology (DUT): 3 – 1 and 1 – 0, respectively.

Still undefeated, the local lads are to maintain the impressive run against the visitors. The University of Pretoria’s (UP) Tuks is also still undefeated.

Tebogo Motsamai, UFS coach, is upbeat about the prospect of salvaging maximum points.

“We are targeting three points, and we are ready for them. We are approaching the TUT like any important game,” said Motsamai.

In another fixture in Bloemfontein on the same day, the Central University of Technology (CUT), Free State, will take on the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) at the CUT Stadium, at 17:00.
