Heavy rainfall has adversely affected parts of Mangaung, hampering water distribution and causing taps in most parts of the city to run dry.
Bloem Water told Express that this was due to the rainfall experienced in the area of operation on 15 January.
“Whilst working on the debris and sand coming into the water treatment plant, the rain continued and flooded the raw water pump station, resulting in an emergency shutdown of the plant on in order to remove the water inside the pump station. This has affected the process of raw water purification,” stated Bloem Water.
The entity aims to work around the clock to ensure that the situation gets back to normality as soon as possible.
