Bloemfontein-based body builder Moeketsi “Max” Mosese is top-ranked by the World Fitness Federation (WFF) and was rewarded for the blood and sweat poured into extensive training at the federation’s international championship held in Central Lombok Regency, Indonesia.
He finished third overall in this event’s denim jeans modelling category. Some 120 body builders competed in more than 40 categories on 19 and 20 November.
Through this achievement, Mosese made South Africa and the Free State proud. This was his first prestigious international prize, and his first time competing abroad. He brought home a bronze medal plus a floating trophy.
The body builder revealed that by winning the coveted prize, he received more than what he had initially bargained for when going to Indonesia to compete in the international championship.
“I was expecting to do well, even though this was the first time. As for winning – I did not expect that,” he says.
This impressive showing earned him a ticket to compete in Japan. It also continues his rapid rise in the lifestyle sport of body building.
Mosese’s collection of accolades in his trophy cabinet include those of the WFF South Africa, as well as provincial championships.
The most recent is of the WFF Free State and Northern Cape provincial final held in Bloemfontein. In the competition’s masters over 40 category he attained third position; he was first and second in the denim jeans modelling category, and runner-up in the fitness category.
Mosese is the owner of the House of Pain Fitness Centre, situated at the Dr Rantlai Molemela Stadium in Rocklands. His journey in the sport started in 1997, and he proudly looks back at how far he has come.
