In order to empower neighbourhood associations in Bloemfontein, OurSA will host a suburb conference on 20 April.
Johan Snyman, one of the directors and coordinator of OurSA, says they want to get all the leaders together to discuss common interests of the whole Mangaung Metro.
“This includes current neighbourhood associations, as well as other organised groups and forums that want to make a difference in their respective neighbourhoods and townships. We want to work together to improve our metro.”
OurSA was established as an umbrella organisation for community associations, businesses and community forums, and all role players in the 103 suburbs and four agricultural areas in the metro.
Apart from Bloemfontein, the metro includes Soutpan, Thaba Nchu, Botshabelo, Dewetsdorp, Wepener and Van Stadensrus.
Environmental groups like Friends of Franklin, Friends of Seven Dams and other representatives that see to the needs of the metro and its residents are also involved.
OurSA wants to see integrated development that tends to the needs in the community.
The suburb conference will look at ways to empower neighbourhood associations and talk about their respective successes and challenges. It will also be a good opportunity for leaders to connect and share ideas.
OurSA is still collecting data from residents about the faulty increase in municipal taxes after the adjustment in the valuation of properties in July 2022.
Residents are invited to send their June and July municipal accounts to c@oursa.co.za for this to be added to the growing number of statistics on how different neighbourhoods and households were affected by the faulty increase.
Get more information on the conference, hosted from 18:00 to 20:00, by sending an email to c@oursa.co.za.
