The Tweespruit Primary School east of Bloemfontein is buoyant after unearthing talented sport stars.

Learners of the school have been included in provincial rugby and netball teams, and have participated in regional and provincial tournaments.

These sport enthusiastic learners participated in development tournaments staged during the first and second quarter.

Rugby stands out as a sport they excel in, with 17 boys selected for the following U12 and U13 teams: VKB Barbarians, Griffons Craven Week, Griffons Academy Week and Griffons VKB.

The girls’ netball team has added to the sporting strides made at the school, after finishing as the runner-up in the U13 Maluti league.

The increase of learners participating in regional and provincial competitions has rewarded the school’s efforts since deciding to seriously focus on sport two years ago. Achievements in sport have become highlights at the school, complementing the accomplishment in cultural activities and excellent academic results – boasting a pass rate between 95% and 97% over ten years.
