The Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court has sentenced a young man to an effective 15 years’ imprisonment after he was found guilty of murdering his biological father.
The accused, Tshepo Boitumelo Mohale (21), was sentenced on 7 January, ending the three-year murder trial.
The court found him guilty of murdering his father, Phakiso David Mohale, on 19 August 2018.
The deceased’s body was found with stab wounds in Bergbas Street, Lourierpark, Bloemfontein.
Evidence presented in court include the murder weapon, which had been discovered after investigation.
Lt Col Thabo Covane, police spokesperson for the Mangaung Metro, said additional evidence included washed clothes, a wet couch, blood spatters and tracks at the house.
The accused’s conviction followed the presentation of strong evidence and testimony by witnesses.
