More South Africans resort to direct selling to supplement a hefty 32% decrease in their monthly income, following the sharp 7,4% inflation rate increase in June. This is according to the Direct Selling Association (DSA) of South Africa.
The association states that over 870 000 South Africans are successfully direct selling as a side hustle or primary source of income through a DSA-screened member company. With low barriers to entry, minimal risk, flexible working hours, no formal education required, and training provided, direct selling becomes a viable income and entrepreneurial opportunity.
Brandon Masondo, DSA vice-chairperson and Africa Expansion director, pointed out that South Africans are desperate for income opportunities to cope with the cost of living.
