The Free State Emergency Medical Services will support the launch of the annual road safety campaign of Life Rosepark Hospital and Shell Ultra City Pitstop in Bloemfontein on Friday (09/12).

Activities will include the planting of “remembrance trees” – indigenous elephant bush (spekboom) – and the unveiling of a remembrance plaque. This is aligned with the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, observed annually on the third Sunday of November.

This drive promoting road safety is undertaken through partnership between the Life Rosepark and the Shell Ultra City Pitstop. It has been ongoing since 2000.Provincial government supports the campaign to reduce road fatalities.

The worsening state of Free State roads remains a great concern. Drunk driving adds to the dangers of road travels.
