In an effort to alleviate hardship caused by the pandemic, the Shoprite Group has made the Covid-19 relief grant available at its 1 286 supermarkets across South Africa.
The retail group has announced that beneficiaries can access their payment of R350 at till points in Shoprite, Checkers, Usave and selected OK Foods stores.
Upon collection at till points, beneficiaries must provide their identity document and cellphone number.
As a confirmation one-time pin will be sent to this number, it must coincide with the number registered on the Sassa database.
This decision benefits more than 10 million unemployed South Africans who qualify for this grant and have had to endure the distress of standing in queues for long hours on end to get payment.
- The Covid-19 relief grant has been extended for another 12 months. All beneficiaries who have already registered online or at the Post Office can receive their grant money with immediate effect.
