The Free State continues to record new cases of Covid-19 and deaths related to the pandemic.
Over the past weekend, the province reported 231 new cases. Of these, 131 were recorded in the Mangaung Metro, 40 in Thabo Mofutsanyana, 33 in Lejweleputswa, 17 in Fezile Dabi and 10 in Xhariep.
To date, the province has recorded 192 866 positive cases and 172 472 recoveries, bringing the recovery rate to 89%. The death toll stands at 7 246, with a mortality rate of 3,9%. Most of the deaths have been recorded among people aged 45 and older.
According to the provincial Department of Health, the Thabo Mofutsanyana District has the highest mortality rate.
