JOHANNESBURG – The South African Police Service (SAPS) announced in a statement issued this afternoon – Wednesday, 5 November – that its investigative team has successfully executed the search and seizure warrant against controversial businessman Brian Mogotsi.

Brig. Athlenda Mathe, national spokesperson for the police, says the warrant was issued on 16 October.

“The team investigating the fraud, corruption and defeating the ends of justice case has also seized certain devices from him. The team met at Mogotsi’s lawyers’ offices in Johannesburg. The team investigating the attempted murder case has also met with Mogotsi at the same offices,” says Mathe, adding “no further comment will be provided.”

An attack on Mogotsi reportedly occurred on Monday at around 22:00 in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg. The Chevrolet sedan vehicle that Mogotsi was reportedly travelling in was shot at with several bullets.

Mathe reported that a security official working for a private security company alerted the police about the attempted assassination of Mogotsi.
