The nominations for the 2022 Free State Sport Awards will officially close on Sunday (31/07). The event calls on federations and the public to nominate athletes and clubs that have had an influence on the South African sporting landscape and the world stage.
The awarding of the prestigious honours return after also being put on hold for two years due to Covid-19 restrictions. The awards are presented by the Free State Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation (DSACR) in partnership with the Free State Sport Confederation (FSSC).
The awards make provision for recognition in various categories.
These have been established to include a range of potential recipients, from able-bodied athletes and those with disablities to federations, schools and media, to community sport builders.
The awards have been created to recognise athletes’ and teams’ excellence on and off the field, uplifting sport provincially, as well as representing the province nationally and internationally.
Candidates can be nominated in 19 categories, which include that of the MEC Award. The nominations awaited are for the period 1 June 2021 to 31 May 2022.
