This year’s Miss South Africa Plus World pageant makes provision for an audience to be part of live proceedings as part of the crowning on Saturday (06/08) in the Bloemfontein Civic Theatre.
The audience will be able to witness 11 contestants strutting their stuff on the catwalk.
In 2021 a virtual event was held to keep alive this pageant, which is exclusive for full-figured women to showcase their natural beauty.
Proceedings will start on Friday with prejudging at the Bon Hotel, where finalists from across South Africa will meet.
“It’s a celebration of women in the different categories,” said Samuel “Chief” Leeuw, franchise director and organiser.
He introduced the pageant in South Africa in 2016. It offers winners a once-in-a-life-time opportunity to represent South Africa and compete for the coveted title against winners from other countries participating in the contest.
The first were Dipolelo Hou from Botshabelo and Puleng Direko from Bloemfontein, who competed in the event in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2018.
Other previous winners include Tondani Sikhwari from Limpopo, Murunwa Mphigalale from Johannesburg and Kenalemang Itholeng from Bloemfontein.
Outgoing queen Aphiri will hand over the crown on Saturday.
Tickets for the crowning cost R200 and will be available at the door on the day of the event.
Proceedings will start at 17:00.
