A star-studded, month-long music festival at Theatre in the North, Heuwelsig, in Bloemfontein brings the festive spirit to the city. This indoor event is dubbed Sunset Soiree and
brings a blend of local musicians together to perform for audience. The festival officially starts on 18 November and lasts until 9 December.
Sibongile Mngoma, one of South Africa’s celebrated singers, will bring the curtain down on the indoor festival on 9 December.
Shows will take place in the evening. Each show can accommodate approximately 50 audience members. Other acts billed to perform include Andile Q, Andy T and Kommanda Obbs. Supporting acts include Itu Marema, Blak Ink, Jyzle RightNow and Khuthala
Proceedings to enthral audience will commence on Friday, 18 November, with a show featuring local Bloemfontein born Afro-jazz pianist and composer Andile Q, real name Andile Qongqo. He is expected to perform songs from his latest album titled Afro Qeysand that features 15 tracks. In this album, he has explored his African roots, composing songs that illustrates just that.
Ayanda Roda, organiser, said the festival organisational approach was made up-close and personal to enable artists to interact with the audience. “Our featured artists will engage and interact with the audience, sharing their life stories, experiences, and the inspiration behind each song. Due to the nature of the events, bookings are essential for interested music lovers,” he said.
Bookings are limited to 50 persons per event, on a first come first served basis. Tickets are sold at R150 per person. Tables for four people cost R500.
