During the school holidays in July, the Oliewenhuis Art Museum in Bloemfontein again presented an interactive Kiddies Holiday Workshop programme to stimulate creative thinking.

This year’s event offered children a chance to participate in exciting Young Visionaries workshops, held from 12 to 15 July. Activities focused on the enjoyment of experimenting and exploring different styles and mediums while creating something. Environmental issues such as recycling and the use of recyclable materials to be creative were also discussed.

Participants created puppets by using recycled materials. For this activity they used boxes to cut out their favourite pet, decorated it and put strings on it to create the movement of a puppet.

Furthermore, children were offered a chance to experiment with printmaking. This involved using coloured paper, ink and linoleum.
