When retired friends Jasper and Celeste leave the Fairview Retirement Home via Jasper’s newly constructed Mealie-Moon-Rocket, they find themselves unwilling participants in an epic conflict between the Darkside and the Lightside of the Moon.
Together with the good-hearted Empress Kazandra and her trusted confidant Moonie Moonrock, the intrepid troop endeavours to overthrow the maliciously vile Emperor Zarcon and his scheming goons, Pitch and Dark.
Barend Kriel wrote the script and directs the production. The cast stars Mpho Vilakazi as Jasper, Evelyn Dumezweni as Celeste, Elizri Malan as Kazandra, Lonwabo Mthakathi as Zarcon, Diana Matsoso as Moonie Moonrock, Simanye Tapi as Pitch and Firdous Haywood as Dark.
The Mealie-Moon-Rocket by the University of the Free State’s drama department will be on show from Wednesday (14/09) to Friday at 18:00 and on Saturday at 11:00 in the Scaena Theatre Rehearsal Room. Tickets cost R25 on webtickets.
