A host of Free State karatekas who successfully completed their grading last year will be awarded black belts at a ceremony in Bloemfontein on Saturday (29/10).

A presentation of belts from Japan by the National Tezuka Karate Organisation will include from first to fifth dan.

The ceremony will be graced by Shihan Peter “Poison” Thage, respected South African full-contact martial artist.

Thage said the event celebrates the continuous development and promotion of the sport.

The ceremony will be held at 23 Alexandra Avenue in Bloemfontein, starting at 09:00. Those interested in the sport are welcome to attend as spectators.
