A wave of melodious jazz sounds is set to sweep through Bloemfontein with the launch of a new quintet, The City of Roses Jazz Ensemble.
The official launch of the group of five is set to take place on Thursday (16/03) at the Odeion on the main campus of the University of the Free State (UFS).
Each of the members are musically inclined in their own right, with a strong background in jazz music. They are: Joseph Kunnuji (trumpet), Claire Röntsch (saxophone), Marc Röntsch (bass) Nicol Viljoen (piano and keyboard) and John Smit (drums).
The jazz quintet’s ability to harmonise well together is thanks to the experience each member draws from and uses to spur each other on.
The launch is set to start at 19:30, and entry is free for all audience members.
