The graft of the male singing acapella group Mohlakeng Acapellas in the music industry has not gone unnoticed.

The group from Allanridge has been nominated for the 2022 Mzansi Arts and Media Awards also known as Mamas.

The group has been nominated for the Best Musical Group category.

The awards serve as a platform to uplift upcoming artists and creatives in South Africa.

Besides the prizes, the awards also enable artists to measure on their progress in building a solid fan base.

It is a first for this talented group. Nomination comes at the time the group is celebrating a decade in music.

“This is awesome getting nominated for a prestigious competition,” said Jimmy Mokoena, member and spokesperson for the group.

  • The group has urged Free Staters’ support by voting. To vote for the group SMS mamap 2172 to 47439. SMS cost R3 each. Voting lines will close on 22 July. The group established its footprint performing live at various functions and staging shows in the province.

The talented youth also performed as opening acts at numerous festivals.

To fine tune their graft, the group has collaborated with South Africa’s international acclaimed Ladysmith Black Mambazo to work on an exciting project.
