With the Dreams to Reality project, one body builder will have the opportunity to give back to his or her community.
This is envisaged by Hende-Mari Strydom, president of the World Fitness Federation of South Africa (WFFSA), and Past. Fanie van der Walt, social responsibility director of the WFFSA.
“We want to empower this person with knowledge so that they can give back to others,” Strydom says.
“We are looking for someone who wants to grow in their body building journey and make an impact on his or her community.”
The candidate must be marketable on social media platforms and keen to learn.
“This project is aimed at someone who is working towards a professional card. It must be someone with dedication and ambition to improve.”
According to Van der Walt, body building requires much more than physical dedication.
“It requires a lot of discipline and sticking to principles. Employers look for people with these characteristics – people who are willing to walk the extra mile,” he says.
“Body building asks of the athlete more than determination; it requires mental toughness and a drive to succeed.”
