Four people have died instantly while 22 others managed to survive after an accident involving a truck and a 22-seater Iveco bus on the N8 road, on South Africa’s side of the Maseru border post. The cause of the fatal accident is yet to be established.
Mondli Mvambi, spokesperson of the Free State Department of Health, says the incident reportedly happened earlier today. He says a hydraulic extrication rescue tool was used to free one person in critical condition. The person was trapped in one of the vehicles involved in the fatal accident.
Mondli says the 22 survivors have been transported to the Senorita Nhlabathi Hospital in Ladybrand for medical observation and treatment. He says Free State emergency paramedics declared four people dead on arrival at the scene.
