With only two rounds remaining in the 2023 FNB Varsity Cup, there are interesting permutations for clubs vying to reach the play-offs on 10 April. One of the two Free State university rugby teams competing in the tournament, the Central University of Technology’s (CUT) FNB Ixias, has a chance at securing their spot.

They need to win two remain matches against the University of the Free State’s (UFS) Shimlas on 27 March in Bloemfontein, and against the Ikeys of the University Cape Town (UCT) on 3 April, also in Bloemfontein.

The Shimlas need to go all-out secure the play-offs after a sluggish start in the tournament.
