Tickets for the first Mangaung Gospel Festival are selling fast ahead of the eagerly awaited event on 1 April.
Various artists, national and local, are set to perform at the one-day festival in Botshabelo.
The organisers have made provision for VIP and general tickets, selling at R1 200 and R250 respectively.
More than half the tickets have already been sold, they confirmed.
The event is pioneered by local organisers involved in the music industry and private business. They are: Sam Moteoane, Apostle Muso Motsoikha, Mohlolo Mochela, Kegorapetse Melamu and Thabo Mafanyolle.
Given the great interest shown in attending the festival, Motsoikha warns against waiting until the last minute to buy a ticket.
“We encourage gospel music lovers to purchase tickets to avoid disappointment. We also urge people to purchase at accredited outlets, where they will receive proof of purchase,” he advises.
No tickets will be sold at the host venue on the day of the Mangaung Gospel Festival.
“We encourage people to purchase tickets on time and, in this way, avoid falling prey to criminals. Our priority is the safety of everyone – artists and those who purchase tickets alike.
“Our clarion call for support and the timeous purchasing of tickets is aimed at making the festival a success, and incident free. It’s all in good spirit.”
Local artists billed to perform are Keletso Mofokeng, Thembisile Kaptai, The Rock Gospel Choir, Youth Ablaze, Dintwane Motale, Shimmy Rakaku and the Shakers Gospel band.
They will share the big stage with established acts, who include Thabo Lebeko, Andiswa Mbantsa, Sello Malete and Hlengiwe Mhlaba.
Motsoikha says the idea to bring various gospel artists together fits the objective of reawakening the powerful Holy Spirit and spiritual power.
“It will afford the masses and artists a chance to unite and give thanks after the global Covid-19 pandemic,” says Motsoikha.
Genres that are featured include traditional gospel, clap and tap gospel, contemporary gospel, as well as praise and worship.
“Artists will unite and sing in one voice as we mark the revival of the opportunity to host positive initiatives to profit the people of the province and Mangaung. We call on everyone to join hands and make the festival a success for the future,” says Motsoikha.
