A theatre festival titled Connecting Streams will connect art lovers through a series of live performances at the Performing Arts Centre of the Free State (Pacofs) in Bloemfontein. The extravaganza officially opens today and will close on Saturday (04/03).

Six shows are lined-up with performances, each over two-days. Some of the shows are written by a breed of local writers and the internationally renowned award-winning Dr Mbongeni Ngema, author of the world famous Sarafina.

The performances include Asinamali (Ngema), Booty Call (Boitumelo Mohutsioa), Emsini (Moagi Modise), Hiding in the Dark (Moses Lechuti), Kgetho (Isaac Sithole), and Siren (Thamsanqa Majela).

The three-day, jam-packed event starts with four performances namely Siren, Kgetho, Emsini and Booty Call.

Kgetho and Siren will be performed on Saturday, while Emsini and Booty Call can be watched tomorrow, Friday (03/03), from 14:30 till 16:30, and from 16:30 till 19:30.

Ngema’s other award-winning production Asinamali and Hiding in the Dark can be watched tomorrow and Saturday from 14:30 till 18:00, and 16:30 till 19:30. Both Emsini and Asinamali depict life during the apartheid regime, inspiring black people to take a firm stance against the regime and to fight for equality and human rights.

Tickets cost R70, and R140 for a day pass at Pacofs or Computicket.
