The first Football Association Challenge tournament held under the auspices of Safa Mangaung is nearing its climax with seven clubs already in contention to become the champion and one match outstanding to determine the eigth club in the running.
The match is scheduled for today (24/08).
Eight clubs will compete to determine the four semifinalists, with the two winners thereof advancing to the final. The overall winner will take home a floating trophy and gold medals and the runner-up silver medals, while third place will earn the club a bronze medal.
Bloemfontein Young Tigers, Bloemfontein Eagles, Dikoena Stars, Ocean X1, Navalsig FC, Juventus and Central University of Technology won their matches in the group stage of the competition, which began with 42 clubs within the greater Mangaung Metro. Clubs came from Bloemfontein, Botshabelo, Thaba Nchu and Wepener.
The tournament features clubs competing in the ABC Motsepe League and SAB League.
