The Free State Department of Police, Roads and Transport urges motorists who have applied for either a new driving licence, or the renewal of their driving licence card or professional driving permit (PrDP), to collect these.
This pertains to those who applied from October to December 2021.
To do a driving licence query, applicants can send a SMS with their ID number to 33214.
They will then receive one of the following messages informing them of the current status of their application:
- Application received – The application was received, but has not yet been processed.
- Production queue – The card is still being processed and manufactured.
- Produced and ready for collection – The card will be ready for collection in 21 days. However, due to the high number of cards being processed, the RTMC advises you to wait 35 days before going to collect.
- Problem card – There is a problem with the production of your card. Please return to the testing centre.
Queries relating to applications for PrDPS can be done by sending an SMS with the applicant’s ID number to 44220.
Queries in connection with driving licence applications can be done online, and for free, by visiting online.natis.gov.za.
The first step is to create a profile and log in.
Once this process is completed, click on the status of the application on the dashboard.
The department announced in May that the waiting period for renewal was three months.
There were reportedly 134 917 driving licences in the province that had expired between March 2020 and 31 August 2021.
