According to 55% of South African consumers, the Covid-19 pandemic still has a negative impact on their household income.

This was revealed in the latest consumer pulse survey conducted by the consumer credit reporting agency TransUnion.

“The pandemic has forced several consumers to tighten the belt and prioritise essentials in order to survive,” said Wynand van Vuuren, head of client experience at King Price Insurance.

“Unfortunately, short-term insurance is often one of the first items to get the chop when we’re looking to trim our budgets.

“Yet one of the effects of the pandemic has been a surge in insurance cover as clients look to better manage their personal risks in an increasingly unpredictable world.”
