An exhibition of sports memorabilia of a “forgotten sports hero” was officially opened in the Duggan-Cronin Gallery in Kimberley.
The late Olehile Gabriel “Whynie” Manong served as a Safa representative in the Northern Cape for more than 30 years. He occupied various executive positions and collected a large number of sports mementos.
A family representative, Bishop Motsamai Manong, said Manong was “a genius, a sweetheart of a brother” who went from player to administrator.
The gallery, with its entrance in Egerton Road, Belgravia, can be visited on weekdays from 09:00 to 16:00. Ring the bell at the gate.
