The battle to win the inaugural Football Association Challenge Cup (FA Cup) competition is intensifying.
The tournament, which started with 92 clubs competing on a knockout basis, has seen 16 clubs reaching the last group stage.
Clubs will this weekend continue their battle to be crowned inaugural champions of the tournament, run by Safa in the Mangaung Metro. The remaining clubs will be in action on Saturday (03/09) and Sunday.
The tournament’s quarter-final is set to be staged on 10 September, followed by the semifinal on 11 September.
The date and venue of the final is set to be announced after the semifinal.
The overall winner will walk home with R10 000 in prize money and a gold medal, the runner-up will receive R8 000 and a silver medal and third place will receive R3 000 and a bronze medal, while the club in fourth place will be awarded R2 000.
The four clubs will also receive brand-new, full sets of jerseys.
The tournament features clubs currently registered in the ABC Motsepe League, the SAB League, the Super League and the Promotional League.
The fixtures are: The Monstros vs City Sharks, Unstoppable vs Small Rangers, Navalsig vs Dikoena Stars, Junior Mates vs Mathaithai, Napoli vs Ocean X1, Ikaleng vs Bloemfontein Eagles, Tsiki United vs CUT, and Morojaneng Givers vs The Rock.
