A dazzling theatrical journey is on the horizon with a brand-new telling of Sinbad and the Secrets of the Lamp.
Written and directed by Nic Beukes, it is suitable for young and adult audiences to watch.
The whole family is invited to the wondrous world of Sinbad and the secrets of the lamp, as a new version of the classic tale strikes the stage. This family theatre production brings the well-known hero from The Arabian Nights fairy tale and throws him into a dazzling live-action theatre show.
In this thrilling theatrical adventure, the legendary Sinbad and his crew set sail for a mysterious island that holds the secrets of the lamp.
Their mission? To break an ancient curse and free a newfound friend. Facing danger at every turn and armed only with their wits, they battle a wild array of mythical creatures and cunning foes, each more formidable than the last.
Beukes claims the production is “an adventure like no other, exploring the power of determination and friendship. These beautiful tales of adventure and wonder are now more needed than ever. Tales that value honesty, determination and compassion are universal. We, the audience, not only crave this but need it so that we can see that the bad in everyday life can be overcome with hard work and good friends.”
Featuring a talented cast, mesmerising stage effects, and a whimsical set design, this production is a must-see for families, schools, and anyone who loves the magic of theatre.
The theatrical drama will be performed in the Scaena Rehearsal Room at the University of the Free State (UFS).
Performances will be from 14 to 27 May. Tickets are sold at R60 for adults, R40 for students, and R25 for pensioners and groups.
