A team has been appointed to ensure that Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres in the Free State are running smoothly following the completion of a countrywide migration process to the Department of Education.

These centres were previously managed by the Department of Social Development.

Social workers, their supervisors and administration personnel are included in this team of 64 officials.

The process saw 1 183 registered and funded ECD centres in the province migrate by 31 March.

In this time, the ECD sector’s curriculum was also aligned to the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (Caps) curriculum.
