A leading connectivity, digital and financial services company has opened the application process for its 2024 bursary programme for science, mathematics, engineering and technology (Stem).

This programme of Vodacom is aimed at strengthening and encouraging participation in Stem.

It is open to full-time undergraduate students enrolled at South African universities and pursuing further education in Stem fields, who need additional resources to study further.

The company stated that over 4 000 applications had been received for 2023, while in the previous financial year 100 students were awarded the bursary. Vodacom has funded a total of 900 bursaries since the very first in 2014.

The awarding of bursaries through the 2024 programme is based on the academic merit and financial needs of first, second and third-year fulltime students who are studying or plan to study Stem fields.

In addition to their fees, as well as accommodation and education materials, being covered, students accepted on the programme will each receive a laptop, cellphone and workplace readiness training from Vodacom.

The application process is scheduled to close on 31 August.
