Bloemfontein-based novice boxer Jared Pastor hopes for a much-improved performance in his second professional bout in Kimberley on 12 November.
He will be striving to atone for poor form in his professional debut in the Macufe Boxing Tournament staged in Bloemfontein on 30 September.
The upcoming tournament, set to feature 20 boxers, is organised by Fight Arts Promotions. It will serve as the ideal opportunity for Pastor to redeem himself at the expense of Khushil Ravjee, after losing in his debut against Gauteng-based opponent Jonas Senge in the welterweight division.
The local warrior was caught off-guard and lost via knockout after a bout of eight rounds.
This particular fight served as an opening act to the three international championships organised through the promotion of Lebohang Mahoko, director of the Dream Team Gym.
Pastor, who will be celebrating his 20th birthday this month, joined the professional ranks in July this year. In his fighting career of seven bouts he has suffered four losses and celebrated three victories. One of his wins was through a technical knockout and the other two was reached by going the distance.
Pastor started focusing on boxing in 2017, quitting table tennis and cricket. He believes his forthcoming contest against Ravjee in Kimberley is the perfect chance to rise to the occasion.
Given his aspirations of living the dream and becoming the next big thing in the boxing world, Pastor is compelled to work on his punching power and apply rough tactics in the ring against his opponent.
He states that a victory or a draw would be best for him. Another defeat will only damage his reputation, listing him among boxers with the worst professional records.
