Bloem Show, the largest consumer exhibition in South Africa’s central region, marks a milestone this year. The event will be held for the 140th time.
A celebration of this legacy brand’s success will culminate in the show for 2023, from 27 April to 6 May in Bloemfontein.
This will serve as a salute to the founders for their vision and perseverance in establishing this initiative, which has become an asset and delight to its attendees.
It is said the event was the brainchild of a group of agriculturalists who in 1883 undertook an agricultural exhibit. Thereafter they persevered to transform it into a catalyst for economic growth. Of the numerous products and activities exhibited in recent times, agricultural products remain the core of the show.
Exciting plans are afoot to commemorate the latest noteworthy chapter in the history of this event. Elmarie Prinsloo, chief executive officer, said they would pull out all the stops to make this year’s edition memorable.
“Exhibition halls will be divided into targeted segments, with the focus on quality and diversity,” she said.
Prinsloo confirmed that the programme would make provision for 22 agricultural championships.
According to Prinsloo, the successful staging of Bloem Show 2022 and its 93 722 attendees, even under Covid-19 regulations, set the benchmark for the 140-year celebration. Government repealed the restrictions imposed due to the Covid-19 pandemic last year.
“We have a few new surprises for visitors,” Prinsloo said.
