The dark cloud
of smoke over Bloemfontein is due to tyres burning at the Transnet Racecourse, situated adjacent the
Schoeman Park Golf Club.
Fire fighters are on the scene trying to put out the flames. The situation is under control.
Details about the cause of the fire engulfing the recreational facility is still sketchy.
It is, however, suspected that homeless people
could have stared the fire in the bushes in an attempt to fend off the cold
weather.
