Four grassroots football clubs formerly campaigning in the Bloemfontein stream of the Safa Interstate Bus Line Super League have gained entry to the Promotion League.


Four grassroots football clubs formerly campaigning in the Bloemfontein stream of the Safa Interstate Bus Line Super League have gained entry to the Promotion League.

Dikoena Stars FC, Classic FC, Hornets FC and Eastern Hurricane FC secured their status during a promotion play-off held at the Clive Solomon Stadium in Bloemfontein on Sunday (08/05).

Come September, they will campaign in the upper division during the 2022-’23 season.

Classic was crowned the overall winner of the Bloemfontein stream after a convincing 4 – 1 victory over hapless Stars.

Hurricane placed third after beating Hornets by 1 – 0.

In addition to medals, the four clubs will pocket prize money for their efforts.

Classic will receive R7 500, while Dikoena will collect R5 500, Hurricane R4 000 and Hornets R3 000.

These four U19 boys teams qualified for the promotion play-offs after having finished at the top of Bloemfontein’s Super League in stream A and B.

Classic won stream B, while Dikoena topped stream A.

The Safa Interstate Bus Line Super League is the entry level for football clubs campaigning under the auspices of Safa.
