Two Mrs Universe Africa 2022 semifinalists have embarked on a campaign to donate sanitary products to female learners of selected schools in Bloemfontein townships.

Lisebo Mokoena and Lesibo Mpakathe, both from Bloemfontein, have chosen to use the Mrs Universe Africa platform to reach out to their community by improving the conditions of learners from needy backgrounds.

They aim to donate 2 000 sanitary towels to learners during the first term of the school year.

With this outreach project, Mokoena and Mpakathe hope to uplift and empower girls and raise funds for the betterment of the community.

The chief objective of the Mrs Universe Africa pageant is to encourage African women to inspire others and touch the lives of the people they come across.

The empowerment of communities is therefore one of the pageant’s main goals.

The success of participants’ community outreach projects will form part of their evaluation.

Mokoena and Mpakathe were chosen from among 70 hopefuls who attended the Mrs Universe workshop in Pretoria on 11 December.

The finalists are expected to be announced on 12 March, with the crowning ceremony scheduled to take place in May.
