The Writers Guild of South Africa (WGSA) is calling on people interested in writing to attend the Indigenous Language Screenwriting programme. This is sponsored by the Presidential Employment Stimulus via the National Arts Council (NAC), an agency of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture.
Six workshops in various home languages will take place from 24 to 26 February across South Africa.
The closing date for applications is today (15/02) at 12:00. Classes will only be conducted in a specific city if a minimum of ten applications are received.
The programme is open to all WGSA members, who can attend it free of charge. Non-members can visit the WGSA’s Linkedin page and follow the relevant links to apply.
The programme will cover screenwriting as a job, script, story, and structure. It is best suited to emerging writers who have yet to develop an idea far enough for it to become a short screenplay. The programme offers hands-on training and expert guidance to help participants take their writing to the next level.
Due to limited space, the selected participants will be required to attend all the classes from 09:00 to 16:00 on the three days. A light lunch, tea, coffee and water will be provided.
