If you are interested in adoption, Engo Free State is making adoption possible and can provide all the necessary information.

In the spirit of World Adoption Day, which was on 9 November, Engo is creating public awareness about the legal adoption processes in South Africa and assisting those who are interested.

The adoption process is conducted in line with the Children’s Act 38 of 2005, which provides the regulations for who qualifies for adoption.

The requirements for adoption include that adoptive parents must be South African citizens, or someone with permanent residency in South Africa. Those who qualify to apply for adoption include single persons (widow, widower, unmarried, divorced); those in long-term relationships like life partners; married couples; people older than 18 years; persons who are fit, proper, and willing to be entrusted with the rights and responsibilities towards a child; and persons who were assessed by an adoption social worker to comply with the requirements.

Engo also provides counselling to prospective adoptive parents and the process includes aftercare services, emotional support, a screening that includes completing documentation, interviews, home visits, and contact with references.

Those interested in adoption can call Engo Adoptions on 051-522-6914. Alternatively contact Magda de Beer via email at magda@engo.co.za, or Esmari du Plessis on esmari@engo.co.za.
